My name’s Alex ( he / they) and I’m a freelance writer. I’ve published in Playboy, Rolling Stone, VICE, The Village Voice, and other places.

In the latest issue of Bookforum (Vol. 28, Issue 1), writer Vivian Gornick said, “When I read a book…I have that feeling. This guy wrote this for me and I, in turn, am reading it for him.”

I believe that reading is a symbiotic relationship with the author and I want to share my voice with you. It’s not an ego thing; it’s the distant hope that someone out there will benefit from absorbing the character and message of my writing.

Insufficient Fare is a bi-weekly space where I publish poetry and a critical dispatch. I hope to feature interviews and art reviews that are good in a moment where so much of what’s available online is content with being content.
